hi ,
this is an interesting site, I like singing and like singing many types of songs, always practising some tune, and also singing Church hymns.
I was a serious Toyah Willcox fan as a girl, and learned her operatic style of singing to all her L.ps when I was 14 years old.
I tried to imitate her voice, as I also enjoyed doing impressions of her but not in a mocking way I must add, but just trying to engage with her style and her meaning in the lyrics of her songs, which were so
beatifully expressive to me, and even today I still like to study her style of voice, but getting to practice enough her full Operatic Range, since it's loud and needs a studio, and microphone technique would be even better, I imagine. Well I have a huge enjoyment and learned many of her songs from the first Album, Sheep Farming- and Blue Meanings to Anthem and Changling, to Love is the Law, plus B-Sides of Singles. I think enjoyed singing Blue Meanings most and find very Spiritual, a lot of her music seems Spiritual to me, but not really given the credit it deserves. When I'm in the full flow of this singing, it really comes out in that Opera style , she intended it to be, and I would to see if I could still bring that to the fore, and in a studio. You did adverstise for this act in 2016, I hope you still are looking for Toyah Singers, as I would like to give this singer the greatest tribute ever.
As she was my mentor as a troubled teenager and I put all my emotional angst into this expressive creative form of vocals.
I'm older of course now, but very young looking as took care of myself and rather healthy and on form physically for age, I still express myself rather youthfully, so I'm not embarrassed with this act, however I'm not what u got in mind for tribute band singers as Toyah is older herself now, and performing these songs very well, I'm actually 10 years younger, and but looking 15 years younger I'm told, .. which I think don't make difference to me, but just thought I would mention it. I mean I'm in good shape for my age.
so , I leave this with you , and hope you reply to me, and I'd like some chance to practice this voice, and all those hours I put into developing her voice range as a young person , and from what I can tell I still have it , and would be a pleasure to bring it out of the Toyah Closet after all these years hiding, as you can imagine my family couldn't understand anything about this amazing Rock New Wave Punk performer
yours sincerely Marianne
About Toyah singing
I just thought I'd add this to my last thread a minute ago,
I do like dressing up and hair and all that stuff , I think I could pull off Toyah stage, with all costume and Hair done up, so performance wise, I could to her a tribute act and singing, after hours of studying her as a youth, and , I couldn't get into emailing Tony as yet because my phone wouldn't let me !!!! I will try emailing this to Tony via PC tomorrow, as I think it's worth a Shot , and would love to be around musicians who adore Toyah too, as it would bring out my voice act more confidently and encourage more creative nurturing of this Act that I have got , other enthusiasts around me would really bring it out in full flow !!!!!!! I wanna shock myself and see it happen !!!!

I remember buying the 'Sheep farming in Barnet' single as a vinyl mad fifteen year old, and I loved the old school discos soundtracked by 'I wanna be free' and I remember my mis-spent youth sniffing glue while listening to 'Thunder in the Mountains', Toyah certainly had an impact on my life.
