Saxophonist available
Hi, I'm a saxophonist in Farnborough (Hampshire).
I've been playing the saxophone for 30 years. Mainly in swing & soul bands. I can read music and have some experience with using my ear. I play soprano, alto, tenor & baritone saxes.
I was forced to leave my last band, the Soul Enforcement Bureau (SEB), due to the miles travelled to the area on a weekly basis for rehearsals (Leyton Buzzard) and as the band had established itself in areas as far as Bedford & Bishops Stortford and was gigging practically every Friday & Saturday plus sometimes midweek, I couldn't commit to that high intensity of commitment as well as holding down a day job and social/family commitments, so they asked me to quit.
You maybe still able to see & hear me at the SEB website www.soulenforcementbureau.com
I am now currently searching for a band to join. So message me if your interested.
Or another option then dawned on me, as there are a few of us out there looking to join a band, I thought why don't I/we form our own?
So my question to you is would you be interested in joining a soul/northern soul band
I feel there's an interest out there for this genre of music and think it's worth giving it a go?
I'm familiar with the soul genre, and having the band consist of the usual backline, bass, drums, guitar, keyboard/piano and a Horn section of saxes or other horn instruments. Progressing the band to a unique style, look/image.
I would look for band members to be dedicated, enthusiastic & committed but not a project whereby the band is gigging every weekend, wanting consistent financial gain and once a set is established, not to rehearse weekly.
I have always worked on the ethic that when the music and the playing doesn't become fun, then it's time to quit.
