Seeking band to write, record and gig own material

I would like to meet up with like minded people to write our own songs, I can pluck out a tune easily enough but lyrics are a singers domain.
Music is music so appreciate everything from Pixies to Ramones to Buddy Holly to Hendrix to the Doors to U2, Killers to AC/DC, Rolling Stones to Dido... even the guy who writes all Robbies music knows how to put a tune together..
